CHARLOTTE, October 10, 2010 – When 4,000 experts in everything from greening America’s energy to reducing crowded emergency rooms come to Charlotte on November 13, the city will find itself deluged not only by experts who use analytics for a living but also problem solvers who tackle America’s greatest challenges.
The annual meeting of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS®) takes place at the Charlotte Convention Center from Sunday, November 13 - Wednesday, November 16.
Operations research, also known as analytics and business analytics, is the application of advanced analytical methods to help make better decisions. Analytics is experiencing a rebirth in organizations like SAS, IBM, and Microsoft.
Among the highlights of the annual meeting are plenary addresses by three leading Charlotte-area speakers.
James E. Rogers, Chairman, President, and CEO of Duke Energy, who will deliver a talk, The Electric Industry’s Coming Transformation, reflecting Duke Energy’s leadership in energy efficiency and energy optimization.
