USA Cycling Awarded the 2025 INFORMS Edelman Award for Data-Driven Olympic Gold Strategy

BALTIMORE, MD, April 7, 2025 – INFORMS, the world’s largest association for professionals and students in operations research (O.R.), AI, analytics and data science, announced it has awarded USA Cycling its 2025 Franz Edelman Award for Achievement in Advanced Analytics, Operations Research and Management Science, for its use of operations research (O.R.) and analytics in elite sports performance. With Project 4:05, USA Cycling transformed race strategy and athlete preparation, enabling the Women’s Team Pursuit to win gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Coronavirus Update: Vaccine Makers Promise Safety, Lingering Effects From Severe Cases

Nine of the pharmaceutical companies actively working on a coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine have pledged to make sure whatever drug they come up with is safe for people, even if it means taking longer to develop. In a joint statement, the U.S. and European firms, including AstraZeneca, Pfizer, and GlaxoSmithKline, promised to “uphold the integrity of the scientific process as they work towards potential global regulatory filings and approvals of the first Covid-19 vaccines.”

INFORMS, the largest international association of operations research (O.R.) and analytics professionals and students, has officially named 12 outstanding members as Fellows, one of the highest honors in the O.R. profession. The 2020 INFORMS Fellows will be inducted during the Virtual 2020 INFORMS Annual Meeting, November 7–13. INFORMS Fellows are honored for their outstanding lifetime accomplishments and contributions in operations research and analytics.
